So, I spent the season in a state of deliberate evasion, so very far from my own being, distracting myself from the demon of deep depression. It was an unwelcome guest that I had denied would ever return in the way it did: ravenous, oppressive, strangling. Now summer is past, and I rise again, a little leaner, a little disoriented, and staring at my parched landscape. But Autumn, my most beloved, I did not sow, and thus I will not reap, but step bravely into those haunted, and gather, and forage, and hunt, and burrow into the roots, whispering them back to life, and I will last the winter.”
